Anchor, "Brazos Valley This Morning" newscast

  • Saw increased ratings each sweeps period; at one point (February 2011), earned a 52 share, with a 61 share in target audience of women 25-54 years old

  • Coordinated and conducted regularly-scheduled interviews with area congressmen, mayors, Texas A&M coaches and athletes, and analysts, including then-CNN's Roland Martin

  • Coordinated and executed extended on-air forums for local mayoral and congressional races, as well as an award-winning debate concerning College Station's red light camera program, which was on a special election ballot

  • Brokered partnership with local Top 40 radio station to have their deejays appear via Skype once a week during entertainment segment; in turn, show talent was on the radio an hour a week

  • Coordinated with sales department and local businesses to execute a month-long "Giveaway May" promotion where thousands of dollars in prizes were given away

  • With the station's weather team, served as anchor for five straight hours of coverage of Hurricane Ike hitting Texas in 2008; anchored cut-ins starting four hours prior as the storm made landfall

  • Initiated changeover from sportscasts taped the previous night to a live segment, which I anchored

  • Created and maintained show's Facebook page where behind-the-scenes videos, guest line-ups and prize giveaways were posted

  • Anchored results specifically for special College Station election during general election of November 2008

  • Served as lone anchor for all results of area municipal, general and special elections starting in May 2009, both for the 10PM newscast, and regularly for the morning show the next day

  • Regularly interviewed candidates prior to elections

  • Coordinated and conducted a month's worth of interviews with candidates in the key local primaries during the morning show in March 2010, including five GOP candidates for the local U.S. House seat; posted additional Q&A conducted off-air for online viewers

  • Coordinated and co-hosted four live candidate forums during the morning show: two involving local mayoral races, one for a runoff for the GOP nomination for the U.S. House race, and an award-winning debate on a ballot initiative to end College Station's red light camera program

  • Co-moderated a forum with the candidates running for the local U.S. House seat in 2010, which aired on the station's website and the local news talk radio station

  • Hosted, shot, produced and edited an award-winning half-hour, documentary-style special following the candidates for the local U.S. House seat while they campaigned in 2010

  • Co-hosted, produced and edited a half-hour special breaking down the key races in the local primaries of 2010

  • Served as Internet News Director in 2007, one of three staff members who made up the station's Internet department; in charge of overseeing written and video content

  • Provided award-winning live coverage of five major local trials (four of them capital murder, death penalty cases) through live blogs on the station's website, which were viewed across the state, country and internationally by thousands of visitors
